Reading the specs
- Base
- Length where the fin meets the board. Longer base = more drive and speed.
- Depth
- How far the fin reaches into the water. Deeper = more hold, shallower = looser.
- Sweep / Rake
- How far the tip swings back. More rake = drawn-out turns. Less = tighter pivots.
- Foil
- The fin's cross-section. Flat-inside foils are fast; 50/50 foils are balanced and smooth.
- Area
- Total surface. More area adds control and drive; less adds release and speed.
